Each year, UTAC hosts an immersive, internationally recognized training event focused on advancing the integration of UAS, drones, robotics, uncrewed systems, and tactical technologies. Built around real-world scenarios and human-machine teaming, UTAC empowers operators to sharpen mission-critical skills and evaluate emerging capabilities in dynamic, operationally relevant environments.
UTAC 2025 is designed to expose UAS pilots, drone teams, robotics operators, and technology-driven personnel to the latest in aerial and ground systems, advanced software, and mission-enhancing gear. Participants will engage directly with innovative platforms, collaborate across disciplines, and walk away with actionable insights to enhance mission readiness.
On October 30, UTAC-X will serve as the exclusive defense-focused extension of the event, bringing together U.S. and NATO forces for a full day of experimental capability assessment. Supported by a curated set of defense technology exhibitors, UTAC-X gives military attendees a unique opportunity to test, assess, validate, and observe new unmanned, robotic, and augmenting technologies in a fully immersive, scenario-driven environment.

With a focus on specialized, hyper-realistic defense drone operations, including military FPV training, special operations TTPs, counter-UAS strategies, kinetic payload deployment, and TAK-enabled mission sets, UTAC-X stands as the premier global training and capability assessment event for unmanned systems in defense.
UTAC 2025 + UTAC-X
The first three days of UTAC bring defense operators alongside local, state, federal, and international public safety agencies to participate in immersive, scenario-based training. Attendees engage across domains—collaborating with other unmanned systems operators, program leaders, and technology developers to share lessons learned, observe real-time deployments, and build practical interoperability between disciplines.
UTAC is where failure is part of the process. It’s a proving ground designed to push both teams and technology in real-world conditions. Participants are encouraged to challenge their systems, refine tactics, and return home with deeper insights that directly enhance TTPs, improve deployment strategies, and strengthen unmanned systems programs.
Formerly known as the UTAC Defense Exercise, UTAC-X is now a standalone, defense-exclusive experiment focused on capability assessment and operator-informed technology validation. Open only to U.S. and NATO partner forces, UTAC-X provides a controlled, high-fidelity environment to assess emerging technologies and operational concepts through both daytime and nighttime scenarios.
Attendees will participate in mission-driven test lanes, observe integrated systems in action, and engage with exhibitors selected specifically for their relevance to defense mission sets. The experiment also facilitates high-value networking with other units, program offices, SMEs, and invited industry partners, all while contributing directly to future capability development.
Participation in the defense-focused UTAC-X technology experiment is not dependent on participation in the UTAC 2025 immersive training event. Defense operators may choose to validate technology at UTAC-X only, train alongside public safety and government attendees at UTAC 2025, or participate in both for a comprehensive training event + technology validation experiment experience.

“As an Australian, UTAC was a conference like no other. The hands-on aspect separates it from other conferences and provides the end user with an experience that is not available anywhere else in the world. The scenarios, instructors, and SMEs were outstanding and the conference location second to none. The information, guidance and experience I received as an attendee was a game changer for me and my organisation. Thank you UTAC. See you next year!”

“[The Interior Flight Station] was great. Not only was the instructor very knowledgeable about the Avatas but he always was very helpful on the manual FPV. He even let me fly one of his. I think that in itself is dedication, because I have never flown a manual FPV and to let this stranger fly his own for the first time is truly a great instructor.”

“UTAC is truly unique. Tactical training lanes have been expertly crafted in complex terrains and attendees learn through repetition how to utilize robotic systems to best enable mission success while teaming with highly trained instructional staff, industry partners and co-attendees from various professions.”

"The biggest differentiator of UTAC is that first responders who are using Spot share their experiences with the robot in real-life public safety scenarios. When attendees get hands-on stick time with Spot, they build confidence with the technology and more directly comprehend the value of a quadruped robot in the field."
